Since I’m a student it only seems appropriate that I let you all know how and what I’m doing in school. Because I know that you’re all INCREDIBLY interested in these things.
Let’s start off with a comparison of what I had planned and what I’m actually doing. My current schedule is as follows:
- AP English 4
- AP Psychology
- Graphic Design 2
- CP Economics
- CP Chemistry 2
- Money Management
- Phys. Ed.
- Lunch
Not quite as impressive as my previous schedule. I dropped AP US history because the class was super full, I didn’t want all that work and the teacher was changed. Honors physics just got thrown out the window because I realized I didn’t want that class. I did start the year with honors calculus, but after a little while I dropped that, too. History and calculus were replaced with money management and economics (which are mind-numbingly easy classes - I don’t know why I took them). Physics was replaced with chemistry 2.
Basically, I got lazy and didn’t want to do so much - especially not my senior year. I wanted to take it easy for my last 180 days of high school.
I did stick with AP English 4, though. Which is still a really hard class. I got off to a rocky start in the class, but it was one class that I was determined to stay in. And now I’m pulling a high B average and getting B’s and B+’s on papers. So, I’m kinda proud of that.
And soon I’ll be applying to colleges and universities. Yay.
Ah, Shakespeare. A master of the English language and theatre. One of his most famous works is the tale of Macbeth and his ambition to be King of Scotland. Yes, yes, we all have to read it in high school. Yes, yes, light/dark imagery and change of character. And don’t you dare forget the dramatic irony! Shakespeare LOVES dramatic irony.
Whether or not you’ve read the play isn’t actually that important. All you need to know is that in the play, Macbeth kills some people and has some people killed. If you didn’t know this and I accidentally spoiled it for you, deal with it fool. It happens like right away. You also need to know that Macbeth kind of freaks out because of the killing.
Here’s the good part. The final project for Macbeth isn’t an essay or a collage or any other silly thing like that. Get ready for it: it’s Macbeth’s court hearing. I know, it’s awesome. There are two Honors English 3 classes. One class will be the defense team and the other is the prosecution. It’s clear that Macbeth did commit murder and order others to murder. However, it’s up to the defense to prove Macbeth innocent on the grounds of insanity.
I get to be Phoenix Wright (or Apollo Justice or Mia Fey) or Miles Edgeworth (or Franziska von Karma or Godot or Klavier Gavin)1.
Q: Is this…
A. Awesome
B. Or what
CHOICE A TIMES INFINITY.
1End my ridiculously geeky Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice reference.
First of all, I’d like to thank my new host, Lene. Secondly, I’d like to apologize for the week and a half of downtime.
During the downtime there were a lot of things I wanted to blog about. Never in my life have I wanted to blog more than this last week. I won’t bother you with all of the topics I wanted to cover, but I will tell you about my classes for next year.
Finally, in the fourth quarter I was called down to the guidance office to pick my classes. I have to say that I’m feeling very ambitious for next year. Here’s my lineup:
- AP1 English 4
- AP Psychology
- AP US History
- Honors Calculus
- Honors Physics
- Graphic Design 2
- Phys. Ed./Health
- Lunch
Three AP classes. Psychology won’t be hard, really. I know that the workload isn’t bad and the teacher is pretty lax (I have him this year, so I would know). The other two AP Classes, however, are notorious for their amounts of work. In AP English 4, I’ll be reading book after book after book. And writing paper after paper after paper. That’s all the class is. Here’s how your final grade is broken up in the class: 90% writing assignments, 10% participation. Yeah.
The only other class I’m worried about besides those two is Physics. I’ve heard some not-so-great things about it. But I like Physics, and so I’m gonna take it.
Wish me luck, guys! I’ll need it. Especially for all of the summer work I’ll be doing for my AP classes.
1 In case anyone didn’t know, AP stands for Advanced Placement.
